
Robert M. Nichols died peacefully in his sleep on July 28, 2026, after six year of cancer treatments. He was 80 years old.
Bob was a kind and caring person who loved books, history, animals, and especially his family.
The son of Robert and Eleanor Nichols, Bob was born on May 22, 1946 in Waltham, MA. He was the oldest of four siblings.
Bob excelled in school and followed his passion for history to Northeastern University.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 19, 1969, and served two years with the 9th infantry as a pay distribution specialist. He achieved the rank of specialist 5.
After an honorable discharge from the military, Bob returned to Northeastern and completed his undergraduate degree in History. He went on to get a Master's degree in accounting from Bentley College.
While working at Little, Brown and Company, Bob met Linda Drury and the two were married on December 27, 1975. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.
Bob went on to work as a financial analyst for Marshalls and TJX until his retirement.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda Nichols of South Hadley, his son Trey Henry of Greenfield, his sister Cindy Arsenault of Hudson, and his grand-children and great-grandchild. He will be greatly missed.
