James Joseph Yout, age 78, of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 26, 1947, in Boston, Jim grew up with a strong sense of duty, grit, and heart. As a proud United States Marine, he answered the call of his country and served honorably during the Vietnam War. A distinguished veteran, Jim was a recipient of two Purple Hearts, the Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. The discipline, sacrifice, and brotherhood he experienced in the Corps stayed with him for a lifetime, shaping a man who was fierce in his loyalty and deep in his convictions.
He is survived by:
• His beloved wife, Kathleen Yout
• His loving daughter, Kellie-Ann and her fiancé, Chucky
• His loving daughter, Kristen and her husband, Tony
• His cherished grandchildren: Amanda, Christopher, Anthony, and Kameron
• Many treasured nieces and nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews as well as many dear family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline, his sister, Alyce Marie, and his brother, Joseph.
Above all else, Jim treasured nothing more than his family. He was the anchor, heart, and safe harbor for his beloved wife, Kathleen. Loves of each other's lives for 62 years, they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion and deep connection. He was the incredibly proud and loving father of his daughters, Kellie-Ann and Kristen. His love for his girls was absolute, unconditional, and returned tenfold. What brought Jim the most joy in life was simply spending precious time with his family, camping for many years, vacationing together in Maine and New Hampshire, taking a dip in the ocean, enjoying a walk and some food from Sullivan's at Castle Island, and casting a line wherever he could. He especially enjoyed making so many wonderful memories with his grandchildren, who brought an extra spark of happiness to his world.
Later in life, Jim walked a path of profound personal renewal. He dedicated himself to helping others find the same peace. As a proud and active friend of Bill W., he lived out the principles of grace, daily redemption, and fellowship. He walked shoulder-to-shoulder with others, offering strength, wisdom, and a living example of recovery, leaving behind a deep love for all the lives he touched. Everyone who knew Jim has their own stories of a special time they shared with him, highlighting the unique bond and lasting impact he left on each individual.
He leaves a lasting legacy of service to his country and a place in everyone's hearts whose lives he touched. Good night, God Bless you, We love you! Semper Fidelis. Rest easy, Marine
A funeral mass will be held at St. John Chrysostom 4750 Washington Street West Roxbury MA 02132 on August 5, 2026 at 10:00 am. Interment with military honors will be held at the national cemetery in Bourne. Located at Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA on August 6, 2026 at 1:45 pm
