MULLIN Eleonore (Mickiewicz), aged 88. of Quincy, formerly of South Boston,
passed away at home following a lengthy illness on July 30, 2026. Loving wife of the late Daniel P. Mullin. Cherished mother of Terri Gilbert and her husband Neal of Quincy, Elena Mullin and her husband Howard Carson of Philadelphia, Barbara
Mullin of Billerica, Gregory Mullin of Quincy, and the late Daniel W. Mullin. Also
lovingly survived by her grandchildren - Kerrianne and her husband Jared, Sarah and her husband Conor, Steven, Daniel, and Robert, as well as 3 great grandchildren -Sean, Riley, and Connor. She was the beloved daughter of the late Walter Mickiewicz and Stella (Kaminski). Devoted sister of the late Ann Mickiewicz.
Ellie was born in South Boston in 1937 and graduated from Archbishop Cushing Central High School in 1955. Ellie married the love of her life, Daniel Mullin, in 1958. She worked for several years at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until she left to stay at home and raise her five children. During those years she was a homemaker, and she actively participated in the PTA at St. Mary’s School in South Boston. Once her children were grown Ellie returned to the work force where she was employed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until her retirement in 1996. Ellie and Dan moved from South Boston to the Merrymount section of Quincy in 1990. She enjoyed decorating her home, especially at Christmas, and gardening in her backyard during the spring and summer. She and Dan were faithful members of their parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel, where they served as Eucharistic Ministers. Ellie loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and the American Southwest, and she never passed up an opportunity to visit Atlantic City or Foxwoods. In her later years, Ellie became active in the Kennedy Senior Center in Quincy, and never missed a Scrabble day on Monday. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of the Scrabble dictionary and was a formidable opponent.
Ellie was proud of her Polish heritage, but mostly she took great pride in her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, on Wednesday 8/5 from 5-8 PM. The funeral procession will gather at Casper Funeral Home Thursday 8/6 at 9 AM. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, South Boston at 10 AM. Interment at Milton Cemetery, Milton, MA.
