Stacey G. Swift, Jr, 95 of Greenville, formerly of Glocester, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Greenville Health Center in Greenville. He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Garrity) Swift, who died in 2022.
Born in Groton, CT, he was a son of the late Helena M. (Burrows) Swift and Stacey G. Swift, Sr. He lived in Greenville for the last year and had previously lived in Glocester for over fifty years.
Stacey taught at Ponaganset High School in the 1970s and was the weekend weatherman at WLNE (channel 6) forecasting on television in southern New England. After retiring from teaching he worked for Prudential Insurance for over 20 more years and found joy in substitute teaching in his later years. In 2026 the National Weather Service awarded Stacey the Thomas Jefferson Award.
He is survived by his sons: David Swift and his wife, Carolyn Duby of Westport, MA, Paul Swift of Putnam, CT, his two grandchildren: Carson and Andrew, his brothers: Robert Swift of Swansea and Fred Swift of New York. He was the brother of the late John Swift.
A visitation will be held Friday evening, July 31st from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in September.
