Obituary

BUXTON-Carol Ann Leighton “Mimi” passed away peacefully at her home, on July 27, 2026.
Carol was born in Portland, Maine on March 14, 1944, the daughter of the late Carroll Grant and
Kathleen Lang (Totman)
She was among the first graduating class of Bonny Eagle High school, and would proudly tell
other graduates of BE, that she was first.
Carol married her Husband Richard Leighton in 1964, and they had 49 wonderful years together.
They had one son Richard Leighton Jr. “Rick”
Carol worked for Saco River Tel&Tel, as a dispatcher to the linemen, for several years, before
staying home to care for her family. She became affectionately known as Mimi, to not only her
family but to everyone who met her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and
great grandchildren. She loved painting, and was also an amazing baker, everyone loved her
treats!
Carol was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the veterans of foreign wars.
Carol is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Richard, a sister, Roberta, a
brother, Durward, and a great granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Hicks
She is survived by her Son Rick and his wife Karen of Hollis, her grandchildren, Kari-Lynn of
Hollis, Ashley and her Husband Karl of Tennessee and Corey and his wife Kelsey of Biddeford,
Great grandchildren, Noah, Ava, Evelyn and Brooklyn, and her brothers, Brian and Gary.
Per Carol's wishes services will be private among immediate family at Riverside Cemetery in Hollis
