Obituary


Phyllis (DePiano) Mongiovi, age 90, of Medford passed away on Sunday, July 26th, at Belmont Manor Nursing Home. Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Louise (Roberto) DePiano, and was sister to the late Norma DePiano of Medford and Bill DePiano of Burlington. Phyllis spent most of her life in Medford as well as many years in Florida. She was employed as a cafeteria aid at Medford High School and worked in the claims department at BC/BS reviewing hospital claims.

Phyllis devoted her life to her husband Ralph, and to her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking her Italian meals for them, as well as for friends and relatives. Phyllis taught ceramics, loved to read, and was a wonderful pianist. She was devoted to her faith at St. Joseph Church, and was past president of ITAM Ladies Auxiliary in Medford.

Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Mongiovi, and the devoted mother of Patricia Mongiovi of Medford, and Steven Mongiovi and his wife Kelly of Billerica. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew Mongiovi, and Andrew Mongiovi and his wife Makayla. She was the sister-in-law of Delores Travaglione, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, July 31st from 9 to 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
