Colin T. Donahue of Worcester, died on Sunday, July 19th at Bay State Medical Center surrounded by his loving family after a short illness.
Colin is survived by his parents, Robert and Paula Donahue, his brothers Robert Donahue Jr, of Southbridge, Trevor Hollyer, of Colorado, Seamus Donahue of Worcester and a sister, Jennifer Bokis (Donahue) and her husband, Michael of North Brookfield, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his loyal, loving sidekick, Brown Dog. He is pre-deceased by his four grandparents, his cousins Daniel, Matthew, and Lauren; his Aunt Pat, his Uncle Tom, and his treasured canine companion of 15 years, Bing.
Born in Worcester and transplanted to North Brookfield for his young years. Colin was a happy, whimsical child who was fortunate enough to have the freedom to play in the fields, woods, and streams where he soaked up nature and experienced an amazing childhood. The last born of a blended family, he had the advantage of being mentored, sometimes tormented but surrounded by the unconditional love and friendship of his older siblings.
Attending Holy Name High School, graduating from Leicester High School and Quinsigamond Community College, he became an HVAC professional working in all aspects of the field. Growing up, he loved and participated in all team sports with a penchant for basketball where he was on his high school varsity team, played in adult leagues and pick-up groups and remained a loyal follower of all New England Teams throughout his life. Colin had a collection of recreational vehicles that he loved to take out for spins, take apart, and put back together. There was nothing he could not build or repair and was in regular demand for his extraordinary talents. Living on Coes Pond for many years, he boated around the pond, stopping at islands and beaches to fish and swim with his buddy, Bing. A history buff, he loved to share his knowledge; often found in front of his laptop and TV researching and watching documentaries to add to his growing knowledge. Colin was fortunate enough to travel the US and Great Britian. For a time, he lived and worked with his brother in Arizona, having the chance to experience life in the magical Southwest. In addition to his family, he loved being withp his friends and his pets. Socializing with his friends and playing with his pets was his joy.
Calling hours are Friday, July 24th from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by his funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
