
LACONIA ---- Guy B. “Cracker” Miller, 88, of Laconia passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 after a period of declining health.
Guy was born in Miami, Florida on February 24, 1938 to Colonel Floyd Miller and Thelma (Clow) Miller. He was raised in Laconia with his older brother, Clifford, and younger sister, Michelle. He graduated from Laconia High School, class of 1955. He went on to UNH and received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Following graduation, Guy was a captain in the US Air Force, serving state-side in Dover, Delaware in the maintenance and installation section.
After his service in Delaware, he returned to Laconia and worked for the US Forest Service for several years. He fondly recalled this time spent mapping trails in the White Mountains.
In 1965, he partnered with Claude Richer establishing Concrete Constructors, Inc, which went on to become one of the leading concrete construction companies in northern New England for over 20 years. In 1985 he formed NewCon, Inc and continued his work in the concrete business until his retirement in 2000.
During these years, Guy served on many Boards including the YMCA, Laconia Country Club, Homebank, and Numerica Financial Corp in Manchester, NH.
He was an avid sports fan all his life, enjoying all sports, especially golf. He was a longtime member of Laconia Country Club. Besides sports, Guy loved cutting wood and spending time on Lake Winnipesaukee. Over the years many happy memories were made entertaining family and friends at his beloved Windswept Island.
Guy is survived by his wife, Helen (King) Miller; his son, Mark R. Miller, of Holliston, MA; his daughter, Heidi (Glen) Eastman, of New Port Richey, FL; and his daughter, Martha Stafford, of Laconia. He was affectionately known as “Pop” to his seven grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Daniel, Christopher, Tracey, and Allison Miller; Saxon Zywusko; Halle Eastman; and Sam Stafford.
There will be no services.
A celebration of life will be held at Laconia Country Club on Sunday, October 25, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm.
