George Airasian of Watertown died on July 14, 2026. George met his beloved wife Carol at Watertown High School, they were married in 1973. George was a devoted father to Gail Airasian and her husband Shane Norton and Andrew Airasian and his wife Monique.
George supported his children’s interests in every way, attending all of Gail’s sports events over the years and even taking a 3 day cruise on an aircraft carrier on which Andrew was stationed.
He and Carol loved to visit historic (and even prehistoric) landmarks, his fondest memories were road trips to the Rawah Dude Ranch in Colorado and various geological road trips to explore mines and caves. George photographed every person, place or thing he came into contact with and created multiple carousels of slides after that trip, and many others.
George’s grandchildren, Theodore and James Norton and Andrew and Augustine Airasian were the light of his life. His greatest wish was for them to thrive in the world supported by his regular distribution of $20 bills and rare coins to them on most every visit. He was also very concerned they weren’t getting enough food, and regularly showered them with his favorite snacks - lahmejune, kofte, cannolis, donuts and chocolates from any local Candy House (which he took great joy in exploring).
George was the loving older brother of Susan Airasian Havlin and Jimmy Airasian. He took his role as older brother and help to his mother Dorothy (Dolly) Airasian seriously, and she lived with him at the end of her life. He adored his nieces and nephews as well, his face lit up anytime he saw a Toli, a Silverman, a Wilhelm, a Shea or a Kasper kid.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, 558 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown on Tuesday, July 28 from 3 - 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. If you have a story about George you’d like to share, we’d love to hear it. There was nothing he liked better than a comedic moment or brief skit, so if you have props or a dance routine, that’s even better. Donations in George’s name can be made to Lexington Christian Academy, where Gail and Andy attended and George worked for many years.
