George Charles Aymie – October 14, 1938 – July 15,2026
George Charles Aymie, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Osterville on July 15, 2026.
Born in Boston, George was raised in the South End as part of a large, loving Lebanese family whose warmth, generosity, and strong sense of community helped shape the man he would become. He later lived in West Roxbury before settling in Westwood, where he raised his own family and built a life centered around the people he loved.
George's love of music began early in life and led him to a career in the music industry. He worked for King Records, where his clients included legendary artists such as James Brown. Inspired by his passion for music and his entrepreneurial spirit, George went on to found George's Sight 'n' Sound in Roslindale Square.
George's Sight 'n' Sound became a local icon and was known by many as the hip place to discover and buy records. More than a store, it was a reflection of George himself—a place filled with music, conversation, and community. Through the business, George became a familiar and beloved presence to generations of customers and friends.
George was known for his charming personality, caring soul, and his remarkable ability to connect with people wherever he went. He loved basketball and continued playing well into his 70s, earning a reputation as a defensive menace on the court. Competitive by nature and young at heart, he brought energy, humor, and enthusiasm to everything he did.
George loved people, laughter, music, and bringing others together. Whether he was sharing stories with friends, talking music with customers, competing on the basketball court, or spending time with his family, he had an infectious smile and an undeniable warmth that made everyone feel welcome. Everywhere he went, he was loved.
George leaves behind his loving wife, Pat, and her children, Julie (Jason) Pettit and David (Sarah) Mahan; his children, Michael, Alan and his wife Heather, Lauren, and Greg and his wife Gloria Aymie; his cherished grandchildren, Emma, Thomas, Zachary, Ava, and Charlie; his sister, Roberta; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Brenda Wiechmann and Thomas Aymie.
George's greatest gift was making people feel seen, welcomed, and loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
