Obituary

Edward F. Taber, 87, of New Bedford died Thursday September 21, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elsie M. (Vera) Taber, who passed away on March 4, 2005. He died of a broken heart.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late James and Mary (Lyons) Taber, he lived in Fairhaven for 28 years before returning to New Bedford in 1989.

He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mr. Taber was formerly employed by Plymouth Shoe Company in Middleboro until his retirement.

During World War II, he sacrificed three years of his life courageously defending his country while serving with the U.S. Army in Europe. He was the humble recipient of the Purple Heart along with many other medals.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid sports fan.

His family was the most important aspect of his life. Don't say goodbye, say I'll see you later.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Anne Martin and her husband Kenneth of Fairhaven, Eileen Cadorette of Dartmouth, and Patricia Anne Perry and her husband Stuart of Coventry, RI; his son-in-law, Marshall Cadorette of Florida; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


He was the brother of the late Donald Taber.


His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
