Obituary

Robert J. Desrochers, 82, of Bedford, NH, died July 9, 2026 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon following a brief illness.

He was born in New Britain, CT. on September 25, 1943 the son of Joseph and Germaine (Guillemette) Desrochers. He moved to Manchester, NH in 1949.

He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy

Prior to his retirement he had worked for Wonder Bread, Cott Beverages and Anheuser– Busch.

He was predeceased by his parents, a son, Daniel R. Desrochers in 1995 and a brother Ronald Desrochers.

Family members include his loving wife of 61 years, Claire (Prud’homme) Desrochers of Bedford, one son, Michael Desrochers and his wife Julianne of Merrimack, NH, two grandchildren, Owyn Desrochers of St. Augustine, FL, Gabrielle Desrochers of Phoenix, AZ, sister Madeleine Turcotte and her husband Lionel and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Above anything else, Robert devoted his time to his family and took joy from their successes. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and was always there to help with anything they needed and enjoyed watching them participate in school, sports, scouting and dance.

Robert was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 53 years holding positions at the Pack, Troop, and District level. Most recently was a Troop Committeeman for Troop 135 in Manchester, NH. He was well known for his fundraising work which supported many programs and scouts.

He was also involved with the Catholic War Veterans for over 25 years and held various positions at the Post, State and National levels. He was the recipient of many awards for his dedication and support of the organization. Robert was very proud of establishing the Catholic War Veterans Memorial Monument at the New Hampshire State Veterans cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

Robert was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeney, Post 2 in Manchester, NH and a longtime member of the Lions International and Pinardville Lions Club.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 9:30 to 11:00 am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH.

A mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:00 am.

Committal prayers will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd, Manchester, NH.

Memorial donations may be made to the Daniel R. Desrochers Memorial Scholarship Fund, Office of Institutional Advancement, Norwich University, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, VT, 05663-1035.
