ALEXANDRIA ---- Edith Simpson Grout, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026.
She was born May 23, 1932, in Canton, MA, the daughter of Ned R. Simpson and Mabel (Olden) Simpson.
Edith was first employed at the A&P Grocery in Saugus, MA, then she moved on to the YMCA in Lynn, MA and to the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, MA. She worked for 30 years with her husband William at Wellington State Park in Alexandria, NH where she is remembered for her dedication and devotion to the beautiful park.
She is survived by her two sons; William Jr. (Jacqueline) of Ft. Meyers, FL, and Stephen (Joyce Rogers) of Saugus, MA; two daughters Catherine (Edward) Barber of Bristol and Mable (Vann) Jackson of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren Matthew (Tracey) Barber, Maggie Dunn, Kimberley Grout, William Grout and Justine Scarpetta, and their partners John Decoulos, Candace Connor, and Adan Scarpetta; seven great-grandchildren; Naomi Barber, Jacob Nadreau, Patrick Dunn, Aurora Grout, Ember Grout, Kyle Decoulos and Cody Decoulos, her brother Charlie Simpson, and sister Jean Horrigan. She was predeceased by her husband William in 2024, a son Ernest Grout, and brothers Roland Simpson and Fred Simpson.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Homeland Cemetery, Bristol, NH.
