Earl Ronald Jones, age 71, of Lynn, Massachusetts, passed away on July 4, 2026, from complications due to diabetes. Born in Boston to Earl H. Jones and Dorothy M. (Plummer) Jones, Earl spent his early years in Cambridge and graduated from Rindge Tech High School in 1972.
Affectionately known as "Big Earl and Ron," he was a man whose warmth and enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him. A devoted sports fan, Earl spent over 30 years umpiring softball games throughout the Boston area and national fast pitch tournaments. His love for sports was matched by his enjoyment of trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Conn and RI casinos, and local visits to Encore Boston Harbor, where his vibrant personality made every outing unforgettable.
Earl worked at several companies throughout his career, including Deran Confectionary, Standard Box, Copy Cop, The Ride, and Optima Shipping. In every role, he demonstrated dedication and a strong work ethic that reflected his commitment to those he cared about. He also frequently entertained as a mobile DJ at various social functions and kept the dance floor moving.
Earl is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 35 years, Mary A. (DeRosa) Jones of Lynn; her sister Stephanie A. DeRosa of Revere; and many cousins who cherish their connection with him.
