Janice Smith Griffin, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Tommy Green officiating.
Ms. Griffin was born April 5, 1957, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to Lois Young Smith and the late Wilbert Smith. She worked as a bookkeeper for Strickland Insurance Company as well as for Johnson-Williams Insurance. She was a CNA at Life Care Center, Fitzgerald Nursing Home, and Pruitt Health in Ashburn and did private sitting. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a member of New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Brian & Jessi Griffin of McEwen, Tennessee; grandsons: Hobby Griffin and Bryce Griffin; her mother, Lois Smith; and sisters: Shirley & Troy Johnson, Anita & Keith Young, and Sylvia Simmons, all of Wray, and Betty Sue & Thomas Stripling of Irwinville. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert Smith.
