
As Johnny Cash once said in a song, “I’ve been everywhere man”! George Lanctot managed to pull off a little bit of his own Johnny Cash, he kind of went everywhere. From the banks of the Blackstone River then out West to Utah and then back home and all around. George went around!
George V. Lanctot, Jr., 71, of Woonsocket died Sunday June 28, 2026 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Robin Lee (Cofske) Lanctot. George and Robin were married on September 9, 2017 and had shared over 20 years together.
Born in Woonsocket he was the son of the late George V. Lanctot, Sr. and Lea (Berthiaume) Lanctot. George was raised in Franklin, Massachusetts.
George ventured out west and lived in the Springville Utah area for over 25 years before returning to his roots in the Woonsocket area.
In his earlier years George was employed in the roofing business both locally and in Utah. He was employed at Lowe’s Stores for over 22 years before retiring.
As an avid athlete George played softball and went as far as the World Series in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and in New Mexico, that was really exciting!
Even when he lived out West, George remained a staunch New England sports fan at heart and rooted for the Red Sox and Patriots. George enjoyed the outdoors while camping and fishing and hunting, especially in Maine. He also enjoyed taking a number of memorable cruises.
George will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly person. He had his own special sarcastic wit that endeared him to his family and friends.
In addition his wife Robin, George is survived by his son Shawn Lanctot of Woonsocket and a daughter Belinda Woodward of Utah. He is survived by his stepdaughters Chrystal Cofske and Ryan Marie Allaire and his grandchildren Cassidy Cofske and Brooke Allaire.
George was the brother of the late Irene Perry, Georgette Rouette, Pauline Ober and Diane Bergen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
In accordance with his wishes George will be cremated and has directed his family to scatter his ashes at one of his favorite spots in Maine where he will become forever a part of the beautiful landscape he treasured so much.
