Hazel Jeanette Singletary, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. A visitation will be held for Ms. Singletary on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Jeanette will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Born on November 18, 1948, in Daviston, Alabama, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Macie Stewart. She was also preceded in death by her eight siblings.
Hazel’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose love was unwavering and whose presence brought comfort to those who knew her. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and was happiest when surrounded by family.
She also enjoyed some of life’s simple pleasures. Jeanette was an avid NASCAR and Georgia Bulldog fan, faithfully cheered on the Atlanta Braves, and loved spending time fishing. Whether watching a race, following a Braves game, or casting a line, these were the moments that brought her happiness.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Dawn Barr, and son-in-law, Keith Barr; and her cherished grandchildren, Drew Pridgen, Kaylea Pridgen, Will Pridgen, Logan Barr, Lauren Barr, and Emma Barr. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and her love for them will remain a lasting legacy.
Jeanette will be remembered for her strength, her love of family, and the many memories she created with those she loved. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing her love will continue to live on in their hearts forever.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1160 Forsyth Street, Macon, GA 31201.
