Robert E. “Bucky” LaPierre, 87, of Derry, NH passed away Tuesday June 9, 2026, from Alzheimer’s disease at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born on January 3, 1939, in Guilford, VT, a son of the late Frederick and Cecile (Bovin) LaPierre. He lived with his brother Norman and Marilyn in Boscawen, NH for many years, before moving to Derry, NH 19 years ago.
In his youth, Robert was given the nickname Bucky by his babysitter for being a rambunctious youngster. He loved farming with both of his brothers, Norman and Albert, until he enlisted in the military in January of 1961 with his brother Albert. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1968. During his time in the military, he was trained in war combat, and performed duties as carpenter, senior welder, construction foreman and small firearms repairman.
After serving his country, Bucky embarked on a career in over the road trucking, owning his own truck. He travelled over 2 million miles. As his sister Marie said, “He would find a Dunkin Donuts from the East Coast to the West Coast. He would always speak via Qualcom with his sister, Arlene, while she was driving her truck. It made the trips more enjoyable.
Bucky met the love of his life Patricia D. French while they were motorcycling. It was almost love at first glance for Bucky. During their 17-year marriage, they shared many adventures together. They travelled cross country, covering eight thousand miles through several states including Wyoming, Nevada, Missouri and Mississippi. They spent seven weeks on the road to see the sights, visit with family and catch up with friends. One of many adventures they had was taking their Spyder motorcycles to Nova Scotia to meet up with friends. Another trip was going around the whole St. Laurent Bay in Quebec, Canada.
Bucky will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed by all, especially his dogs Willow, Skittles and Ollie and cat Comet. Eternal thanks to loving friend Joyce Stone for the care and concern she offered on a daily basis, as well as to Liz Kelley for giving of her time to take him on joy rides to get his coffee at Dunkins, long chats, and lovingly sorting his medications on a weekly basis. Many, many thanks to the caring nursing staff of Pathways Hospice- Danielle, Jamie, Anne and Louis, who adored Bucky. Family would also like to extend sincere thanks to T.M. Robinson for her continued time and friendship through this long journey.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Patricia D. (French) LaPierre, son, Joshua LaPierre and wife Cathii, step-daughter, Shannon Hueber and husband James, grandson, Braiden, step grandchildren, Patrick, Brandi, Samanatha and Lexi Hueber, older brother, Norman LaPierre and wife Marilyn of Boscawen, younger brother, Albert LaPierre and his significant other Sharon Jordon of Weeki Wachee, FL, sister, Marie Abberton and husband David of Bow, NH, sister Arlene Raymond of Carriere, MS, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry will be announced in the coming days.
