Susan L. Vokey
Susan Lorraine Vokey passed away at the age of 71 on June 9, 2026.
Susan was born December 27, 1954 in Boston, MA. She was the beloved daughter of Alma Maidens of Toronto, Canada, William Vokey of Hyde Park, MA, and younger sister of Jeanne L. MacArthur of Dennisport, MA.
Susie grew up in Hyde Park, MA and made her home in Peabody, MA. She was a dedicated and caring Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager for Walgreens for decades and enjoyed painting, traveling to Hawaii with her mother, and family celebrations. She was brilliant, beautiful, witty, thoughtful, and caring.
As a child she spent summers at the family farm in Regina, Saskatchewan, wandering its vast wheat fields; prospecting and excavating prehistoric Trilobites. Susie was a High School Science Club star, a member of the National Honor Society, Roslindale High School Class of 1972’s Valedictorian, and graduated from Mass College of Pharmacy at the top of her class in 1976.
Her legendary Volkswagen Beetle never failed her, be it charging up the snowy roads of Deforest Street during the Blizzard of ’78, touting her nieces and nephews this way and that, across the elevated highways and hilly roads of Boston and its surroundings. To the movies and to lunch. To playgrounds. Shopping. To Grammie’s house for dinner and back. For her older sister Jeanne’s children, Susie was their very own Big Sister. Trips filled with smiles, laughter, music, and exciting memories that last to this day.
Aunt Susie is survived by her nieces, Melissa Flamburis of Boston, MA and her husband Gary Orlando. Trina Payan, of Dennisport, MA, and nephew David Flamburis of Milford, NH, and his wife NatalieJo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins across North America.
Susie loved her family and was a vital part of their entire lives.
