
CHICOPEE – Steven M. Evans, 59, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, June 28, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on Sunday, September 25, 1966, a beloved son of Christine (Wohlers) Evans of Florida and the late Charles “Wolfie” Evans. He was raised and educated in Chicopee where he was a lifelong resident. He was a Machinist for Knight Machine and Tool Company in South Hadley. He was a member of the Westfield Gun Club and the Uniroyal Golf League. Steve was known for his strong work ethic and was respected as a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending time outdoors. He treasured his friendship with his hunting buddy, David Babcock, and was a devoted companion to his beloved cats, Thor and Odin. Steve lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, and steadfast devotion to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Kim M. (Quaglietti) Evans with whom he shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. One of Steve’s greatest joys was taking Kim for long drives on his days off and enjoying the time they spent together. He also leaves his sister, Brenda; his mother-in-law, Marjorie (Vincent) Wheeler of Ludlow; his sister-in-law, Jeanne R. Quaglietti and her partner, Bill Rokowski, of Chicopee; his brother-in-law, Michael A. Quaglietti and his wife, Lisa Walter, of Norwell, MA; his two nieces, Christina Guertin and her partner, Travis Moore, and Hannah Guertin; his four nephews, Aidan Guertin and his wife, Nadirah, Jordan Guertin, Matthew Evans, and Nicholas Evans; his three grandnieces, Delaney and Delilah Moore, and Anisa Guertin; his grandnephew, Nasir Guertin; his best friend, Gene Meunier of Chicopee; and his many cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Melfino Quaglietti. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date with details to be shared at that time.
