TEWKSBURY: Warren G. Andrews, age 70, a resident of Tewksbury for 41 years, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford.
He was the husband of Joan H. (Jenkins) Andrews with whom he would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on November 23rd.
Born in Cambridge on August 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Gerald L. and Emma (Babcock) Andrews.
Mr. Andrews was raised in Cambridge.
He attended Cambridge schools and graduated from Ringe Tech High School in 1955.
Mr. Andrews later attended Lowell Tech (U.Mass-Lowell)
In 1955, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served with the 10001st Field Maintenance Squadron and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1997, he was employed for 40 years as an iron worker by Local # 7 of South Boston. In addition, he served as an officer of Local # 7 until his retirement.
Mr. Andrews attended the Tewksbury Congregational Church.
He was a member of the Retired Iron Workers Club of South Boston.
Mr. Andrews enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters; Cheryl H. Gontarz and her husband Steven of Londonderry, NH, Sharon E. Sheehan and her husband Timothy and Heather G. Mulvey and her husband Robert all of Tewksbury; one son; Stephen G. Andrews and his wife Robyn (Rhynd) of Tewksbury; one sister; Norma J. Wiberg and her husband Sven of Wilmington; eleven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Andrews was the grandfather of the late Kayla A. and Kaitlyn H. Mulvey.
Calling hours Friday, September 22nd from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Saturday, September 23rd, 11 a.m., at the Tewksbury Congregational Church, East St., Tewksbury Center.
Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Bedford V.A. Hospital Alzheimer’s Unit 62 CD or TAC Fund, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA 01730 are requested.
