With profound sadness and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Jean A. Desinord, who departed this life peacefully on June 19, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by the love and presence of his family until his final breath.
Jean was born on July 10, 1956, in Lachapelle, Haiti, to his loving parents, Vilna Desinor and Paulina Alexis. Growing up in Haiti, Jean treasured spending time with his friends, especially playing soccer, a pastime that brought him great joy and created lifelong memories. In 1981, Jean immigrated to New York in search of greater opportunities for himself and his family. He later settled in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1987, where he built a life rooted in hard work, dedication, and love for his community.
Jean began his career as a cab driver before finding his true calling as a school bus driver for Boston Public Schools in 1997. For more than 25 years, he faithfully transported countless children safely to and from school. He took immense pride in his work and genuinely loved the students he served. His kindness, reliability, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on the many families whose lives he touched. After years of dedicated service, Jean retired in 2023.
Outside of work, Jean found peace and happiness in gardening. His backyard was always filled with thriving fruits and vegetables, reflecting the patience, care, and dedication that characterized every aspect of his life. Whether tending to his garden or spending time with those he loved, Jean found joy in life's simple blessings. He also loved baking, especially making fresh bread, Haitian patties, and homemade cakes. Some of his most treasured moments were spent in the kitchen baking cakes alongside his beloved grandson, creating sweet memories that will forever be cherished by his family.
Above all else, Jean was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, and loyal friend. His quiet strength, generous heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jean leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Ydovia Desinord; his sons, Carl Desinord and Claude Desinord; his loving daughter, Tahina Desinord; and his cherished grandson, Kenneth J. Coleman.
He is also lovingly remembered by his brother, Jean E. Desinor; his sisters, Marie Ange Desinor, Guerda Desinor, and Lelaine Desinor; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and generosity.
Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Jean's legacy lives on through the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the values he instilled in his family. His gentle smile, unwavering work ethic, compassionate spirit, and selfless devotion to others will never be forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing hour on Saturday July 11, 2026 from 10:30-11:30 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 111:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1548 Blue Hill Ave, Mattapan, MA. 02126. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, 500 Canterbury Street, Roslindale, MA.
