Francis Thomas Affonce, Sr., 81, of Dartmouth died Monday September 18, 2006 at Hallmark Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Vera (Williamson) Affonce.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Anthony and Agnes (Foy) Affonce, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Dartmouth three years ago to live with his daughter, Katheryn and her family.
Mr. Affonce was the proprietor of Affonce & Son Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He retired after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pvt. A. Poirier Post 3260.
Survivors include two daughters, Katheryn V. Campbell of Dartmouth and Bonnie Cardoso of New Bedford; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Francis T. Affonce, Jr.
