Obituary

In Loving Memory of Shelton Joseph Pinnace
April 16, 1950 – June 2, 2026

Shelton Joseph Pinnace, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Born on April 16, 1950, in Roatán, Honduras, to Iola Pinnace and Macklinton Johnson, Shelton was raised with strong values that shaped the course of his life. He attended Escuela Catorce de Julio and developed the remarkable work ethic and determination that would define him throughout his years.

Shelton spent many years working aboard cruise ships, where his dedication and leadership earned him the rank of Chief Steward. Through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence, he built a life that reflected both ambition and integrity. After settling in Boston, Massachusetts—a city he loved and proudly called home—he continued serving others through his work as a Security Officer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Even well into his seventies, Shelton remained committed to his responsibilities, exemplifying diligence, reliability, and pride in his work until retirement.

Those who knew Shelton remember him as loving, caring, fun, compassionate, perceptive, and deeply devoted to his family. He possessed a unique ability to understand people and offer wisdom, encouragement, and support. As a father figure to many of his sisters, he provided guidance, protection, and stability throughout their lives. His presence was a source of strength, and his love extended far beyond his immediate family.

Shelton found great joy in spending time with loved ones, living in Boston, and vacationing in Miami Beach. He enjoyed laughter, conversation, and making memories with family and friends. His faith was important to him, and his favorite hymn, “Trust and Obey” (“When We Walk with the Lord”), reflected the values by which he lived and the trust he placed in God throughout his life’s journey.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Myra Pinnace, Shelton Jamal Pinnace, Kindra Pinnace, and Sashari Pinnace; his beloved grandchildren: Walkiria Kirkconnell, Bryan Pinnace, Ellery Kirkconnell, and Christian Pinnace; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Scarlett Ocasio and Magnus Ocasio, who brought him great pride and joy.

Shelton is also survived by his siblings: Nathilee Bodden (Franklin Bodden), Marlin Saintbon (Joel Saintbon), Griselda Whittaker (Cosmo Whittaker), Ellen Stanley (Kirby Stanley), Nancy McField (Homer McField), Betty Hinds (Kiplin Hinds), Jeffrey Johnson, Eileen Johnson, Cristina Smith (Alfred Smith), Newton Johnson, Theodore McField, Monalee Bodden, Sharon Vanzil, Wilfredo Bodden, and Ridley McClary Johnson (Eileen Johnson), along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iola Pinnace and Macklinton Johnson; his siblings Leone Brown, Melvin Brooks, Glenda Galindo, Donald Johnson, Arnold Johnson, and Yolanda Aleman; and other beloved family members who welcomed him into eternal rest.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories Shelton leaves behind—his laughter, his wisdom, his steadfast love, and the example he set through a life well lived. His legacy will continue through the family he cherished, the values he instilled, and the many lives he touched.

“Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”
