
Richard Jude Tedesco, 64, of Lowell, passed away after a period of declining health on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
He was born on April 3, 1962, in Somerville, MA and was the youngest son of the late John and Anne (Vena) Tedesco. He was raised in Somerville, where he attended the area schools graduating from Somerville High School in 1980. After High School, he attended Tufts University in Medford and received a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering.
In his working years, he worked as an engineer for DRC, Odyssey and many government contract jobs.
Rick was an avid drummer. Played in the Somerville High School marching band and continued his music in the band Whirling Vertigo until he moved to Lowell. He continued with his music hobby with a new band and played on various town porch fests in the area and many other venues. He was a member of the Billerica Ham Radio Club, a hobby he was immersed with, as evidenced by the various amount of equipment he gathered through the years. He so enjoyed talking with people across the United States and various countries abroad.
In his earlier years, he was also an avid photographer – doing wedding photography but his declining health caused him to give up this hobby which then moved him into the Ham Radio Club where he met people that were so good to Ricky and where he thrived.
Rick is survived by his older brother John and wife Joanne Tedesco of Reading, MA and Nephew John Robert Tedesco and wife Kathryn (McCarthy) Tedesco of Reading, MA and Niece Stephanie Tedesco and husband Aaron Gottlieb of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and he was great uncle to Annie and Jake Gottlieb. Also survived by his sister, Claudia Tedesco Chiaraluce and husband Alan Chiaraluce of Andover, MA and Niece Cara Chiaraluce and husband Ben Fineman of San Jose, CA and great uncle to Samuel and Sofia Fineman. Nephew Andy Chiaraluce and wife Kate (Ferguson) Chiaraluce of Taos, NM.
There will be a memorial service for Ricky on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Roberts Bellarmine Church, Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, MA . All friends and family are welcome to celebrate Ricky’s life at that time.
