CHARLES – Bertie “Charlo”, age 83 of Roslindale formerly of Trinidad and Tobago, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
Bertie was a man of punctual, meticulous and particular craftmanship, in every aspect of his life. His early years of body building, working as a materials expeditor at the Ministry of Works and Transport in Trinidad and Tobago and Taxi driver in the evening.
When Bertie moved to Roslindale he began a brief career with the United States Postal Service, making sure every envelope was perfectly placed in residences’ mailboxes, which unfortunately did not work with the cost-efficient delivery process. So, he turned his craftmanship into long career as a vault teller in the banking industry. Bertie could tell you every aspect about currency and how much there was by just looking at the packaging.
Bertie had many enjoyments, his yearly Christmas lights, showing people how to properly shovel snow, his retirement Timex wristwatch, and his garden. He truly had a “green thumb” for all flowers and vegetables especially his well know tomatoes.
Bertie loved his family and friends; he was the beloved husband of Angela (Matthews) Charles of Roslindale; devoted father of Sheldon Charles and his wife Teres of Dedham, Stacianne Goodridge and her husband Joel of Norwood, and Simone Charles Ogbebor and her husband Jude of East Taunton; cherished grandfather of Olivya Charles of East Taunton; beloved brother of the late Irvine Charles and Joseph Charles; adoring brother-in-law of Jennylyn Peters, Mickey Matthews, Gemma Rogers, Gloria Matthews, Lynette Matthews, Joan Hunte, late Desmond Matthews and Barbara Harte. Bertie is also survived by many caring extended family and friends.
