Obituary

David Charles Shade
June 16,1948- June 9,2026

David Charles Shade passed away on June 9, 2026 at the age of 77, surrounded by the love of his family. Though he lived in Anderson, Indiana for a majority of his life, he was proudly from the great Commonwealth of Kentucky.

David was born on June 16, 1948 to Robert and Martha (Brashear) Shade in Louisville as the third of three boys. The family relocated to LaGrange, Illinois, where he attended middle school. Another move found him back in Kentucky, where David graduated from Lexington Catholic High School in the Class of 1966. It was at LCHS that he met Mimi Bishop, whom he would marry in August 1968.
David attended the University of Kentucky, graduating with a BS in Business Administration in 1970. In between studies, he pledged Pi Kappa Alpha, and began his lifelong obsession with cheering on the Wildcats. He was not deterred when he moved to central Indiana. He continued to whistle the fight song, irritate IU fans, and pass along the love of Big Blue Nation to his kids and grandkids, who despite holding IU degrees, always cheer for UK first. Because in this family, we bleed blue!

He moved to Anderson with Mimi in his white VW to work for Delco Remy. He soon got rid of the VW in favor of a GM product. And General Motors would endure as he held various positions in the Personnel Department throughout his 40 year career. He retired from Delphi in 2009. He later served as the Human Resources Manager for Brevini in Muncie.

David was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and University Club. He served as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters for several years. David and Mimi were long-time season ticket holders with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra. David served as a long-time Member of the ASO Board of Directors, and was elected President of the Board.

He was a lover of the game of golf, a fixture on the walking path at Shadyside, and the best Girl Dad before there was an official label.

David is survived by his wife, Mimi; daughter, Amy Pressnall (husband, Troy); daughter, Sara Shade Hamilton (husband, Brandon); grandson, Nicholas Pressnall; granddaughter, Ava Pressnall; brother, Stephen Shade (wife, Charlene);sister-in-law, Judy Campbell (husband, Buddy); sister-in-law, Susan Mastin (husband, Bobby); brother-in-law, Stephen Bishop; brother-in-law, Phillip Bishop (wife, Mary Beth); brother-in-law, David Bishop (wife, Tina); many nieces and nephews; and three grandpugs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Shade; and in-laws, Wyman and Ruth Bishop.

Friends and family will be welcomed for a visitation at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. A private funeral service will take place. Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Anderson Symphony Orchestra Fund at The Madison County Community Foundation.
