Michael Philip Wetzonis, age 78, of Somerville passed away on Saturday, June 6th, at Mt. Auburn Hospital of Cambridge. A lifelong Somerville resident, he was the son of the late John and Anne (MacGillivray) Wetzonis. Michael proudly served in the Marine Corps, completing three tours of duty in Vietnam. After returning to civilian life, he married, raised a family and earned a living as a warehouse worker.
Michael was the beloved husband of Marianne (Falco) Wetzonis, and the devoted father of Michael T. Wetzonis and his partner Sarah Sweeney, and Debra E. Benjamin and her husband Michael. He was the loving grandfather of Sean and Ronan Wetzonis, and Katherine and Julia Benjamin. Michael is also survived by many more loving family members, friends, and his beloved dog Po Mulan.
Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, June 11th from 4 to 8 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
