
Kangos, Anne N. (Lappas) a 20 year resident of Wellesley, MA and a beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and deep devotion to her family. Born on October 29, 1931, in Queens, New York, Anne’s life was defined by her warmth, intellectual vibrancy, and an unwavering commitment to the people and pursuits she held dear.
Anne was the cherished wife of the late James D. Kangos, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage and partnership. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she cherished every moment spent in their company, celebrating their achievements and surrounding them with unconditional support.
A lifelong learner and avid reader, Anne possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world. She could frequently be found with a book in hand, always eager to explore new ideas, histories, and perspectives. In addition to her intellectual pursuits, Anne was a lover of golf, a sport she enjoyed both for the challenge of the game and the wonderful camaraderie of her fellow players.
For the past 18 years, Anne made her home within the independent living community at Linden Ponds in Hingham, Massachusetts. She embraced this chapter of her life with immense vitality, becoming an active and vital fixture within the community. Anne was deeply involved in numerous clubs and activities, where her sharp wit and warm demeanor allowed her to develop wonderful, lasting friendships that deeply enriched her life.
Anne’s legacy lives on through her devoted children: her son, Douglas J. Kangos, and his wife Beth; and her daughter, Cynthia A. Kangos-Baker, and her wife Carolyn Urban. She also leaves behind four grandchildren who brought immense pride and joy to her life: Nicholas Kangos and his wife Lorrainy, Ansley Baker, Benjamin Kangos and his wife Amanda, and Colin Baker.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St. Weston on Monday, June 8, from 10-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Anne’s memory to Linden Ponds Student Scholarship Fund, 300 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham, MA 02043.
