Mary Wood Broome, 84, of Tifton went home to be with Jesus on Monday, June 1, 2026, at her residence. A private funeral service and burial will be held for Mrs. Broome at a later date.
Born October 26, 1941, in Lenox, Georgia, Mrs. Broome was the daughter of the late Claude Benny Wood, Sr. and Odell Brown Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Broome; and one sister, Betty Giddings. She graduated from Berrien County High School; and she was a loving homemaker. Mary enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours gardening. She loved reading, sewing, car racing, and caring for animals.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Carlton Barry, Jr. of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sonja Duncan of Hinesville and Carleen (Ricky) Connor of Eldorado; two brothers, Jack Wood and C. B. (Sandra) Wood, Jr. of Tifton; one sister, Joann Boozer (Bill) of South Carolina; five grandchildren and their spouses, Zach (Bridget) Duncan, Jedd Duncan, Isabella Connor, Hannah (Reid) Cornelius and Sydney Barry; three great-grandchildren, Xander Palmer, Colbie Cornelius and Alden Cornelius; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
