
GILFORD ---- Joan Carol Stephenson, 90, of Briarcliff Road, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Joan was born on December 28, 1935, in Princeton, New Jersey, to the late John and Herberta (Morse) Parker.
Joan lived a life centered on family, kindness, and service to others. A devoted homemaker and co-owner of her family's business, she created a warm and welcoming home where family and friends always felt loved and supported. Her generous spirit, gentle nature, and unwavering dedication to those she cared about left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Joan's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she took great pride in the accomplishments and happiness of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found joy in life's simple moments; cherishing time spent with loved ones and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in Church Choirs and other groups all her life. She loved animals, flowers and gardens, and was an excellent photographer.
She is survived by sons; William H Stephenson, Eric and his wife Michelle Stephenson, daughter; Laura Jean and her husband Richard Holdaway, grandchildren; Melinda Rousselle, Scott Holdaway, Christopher and Jeremy Stephenson, her two great-grandsons Aaron and Kevin Rousselle, and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her parents; John and Herberta (Morse) Parker, daughter; Beverly Stephenson, spouse; Jack Stephenson, brothers; John Parker Jr., Gordon Parker.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Gilford, New Hampshire. Additional details regarding the time and location will be announced by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to The Humane Society in Joan's memory, continuing her lifelong example of care for animals.
