Annie Lou Simmone, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 5 PM, Sunday, May 31, 2026, at New Testament Holiness Church in the Queensland community of Ben Hill County, Georgia, with Pastor Randy Locke, Terry Crisp, and Chris Casselman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald. Friends and family are invited to bring a covered dish and join in a luncheon in celebration of Mrs. Simmone’s life at 1 PM on Sunday at the Fitzgerald Utilities Community Room, 103 West Central Avenue, Fitzgerald GA 31750. The family also encourages everyone to wear bright spring colors to the service.
Mrs. Simmone was born May 2, 1936, in Poulan, Georgia, to the late Sherry R. & Minnie Lou Bray Goodman. She attended school in Bridgeboro, Georgia, and was a homemaker. She loves Jesus and served Him most of her life. She enjoyed canning, watching the Hallmark Channel, and doing word search. She loved her family dearly and was a member of New Testament Holiness Church.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Ann Casselman & Chris of Fitzgerald, Georgia Renea Kite of Fitzgerald, and Mary Lou Mayo & Acie of Douglasville; grandchildren: Acie Mayo IV, Justin Braxton & Lyndsay Ferrell, Wanda Wiley, Bri Mayo, Brittany Braxton, Adara Ruiz & Alex, Kimberly Braxton & Kyle Hodgson, and Alec Mayo; great-grandchildren: Harvey, Brenda, Grace, Charles, Waylon, Zaylee, Aubrey, Willow, Axel and Isla; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Alewine Simmone; infant son, Ricky Alewine Simmone; infant daughter, Gloria Jean Simmone; a son-in-law, Chris Kite; and siblings: Little S.R. Goodman, Herman Goodman, John Goodman, Jim Goodman, Nelia Lawrence, and Hal Goodman.
