Obituary

WORCESTER-Stephanos Karcasinas, 80, of 20 Brookside Avenue, fell asleep to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 17th, 2006 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. His devoted and loving wife of 39 years, Kalimorfi (Dovras) Karcasinas, died March 19th, 2002. His parents, Stergios and Alexandra Karcasinas died in Albania. Also deceased were 3 sisters in Albania. He leaves 2 daughters, Alexandra Vorres and her husband Takis, and Elena Economou and her husband Fred, all of Worcester; his four beautiful grandsons, Anthony, Stephen Vorres, Nicholas Vorres and Paul Economou, along with his precious granddaughter, Lilly Economou; and a sister, Vasiliki in Greece.

Stephanos was born in Vangalati, Northern Epiros, and fled communism to Greece at the age of 17 where he never saw his parents again. He came to Worcester in 1956 and retired as a baker from Table Talk Pie Company in 1982. Mr. Karcasinas was a longstanding member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was a humble and compassionate husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

The funeral is Wednesday, September 20th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 A.M. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, September 19th, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
