Obituary

WEBSTER - Robert J. Klisiewicz, 72, of 46 Granite Street, died Sunday, Sept. 17, in UMass/Memorial Healthcare, Worcester after a brief illness, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Helena T. (Pietrowicz) Klisiewicz; 3 daughters, Roberta A. Klisiewicz of Merrimack, NH, Sandra A. Durand and her husband Michael of Woodstock, CT, Patricia A. MacInnes and her husband Daniel of Worcester; 3 grandchildren, Adam R. Durand, Michael M. MacInnes and Katherine E. MacInnes; 2 step-brothers, Edwin Nelson of Webster and John Nelson of Oxford; many aunts and cousins.

He was born in Webster, the son of Ignatius Klisiewicz and Elizabeth C. (Ryan) Klisiewicz Nelson. He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1952 and the New England School of Accounting. He earned his Associate Degree from Worcester Junior College, his Bachelor Degree from Central New England College in 1982, and his Master of Education Degree with a concentration in History from Worcester State College.

Mr. Klisiewicz was an accountant in the finance department of Saint Vincent Hospital for 37 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Saint Louis Church. He was a past president and member of the board of directors for Saint Vincent’s Hospital Credit Union. He also served on the board of directors and was a past president for Life Skills Inc. He volunteered in the research department at Old Sturbridge Village. In addition, he was a member of the Webster Cultural Council. He belonged to the Association for Gravestone Studies and was regional editor for their newsletter. He enjoyed photography, gravestone restoration and Civil War history. Above all, he was a devoted grandfather.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, Sept. 22, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.
