David Gene Meade, 81, of Ty Ty passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Meade will be laid to rest at Salem Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Born December 6, 1944, in Colorado, Mr. Meade was the son of the late Larry Meade and Janda Meade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He was a self-employed carpenter, and he loved to play music, especially bluegrass.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary Sue Whittington Meade of Ty Ty; one son, Michael Scott Spires of Tifton; three daughters, Linda Kaye Gutierrez and Shari Lynn Spires, both of Tifton and Brenda Hart of Hahira; one brother, Don Meade of Michigan; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
