
WESTBROOK- Joseph “Joe” Arthur Hunt Sr., 66, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2026,
surrounded by his family.
Joe was born in Portland, Maine, the son of John Albert Hunt Sr. and Evelyn Iva (McNeill) Hunt.
He grew up on Portland’s West End and attended Portland schools.
On February 4, 1984, Joe married the love of his life, Kathleen (Chabot) Hunt. Together they
shared 42 wonderful years of marriage and raised three sons.
Joe enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and video games, and was an avid roller skater in his youth. He
was known for his green thumb and could grow just about anything. Joe will be most
remembered for his pride in his three boys.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Hunt; his three sons, Joseph Hunt II and Brian Hunt,
both of Westbrook, and Timothy Hunt of Windham; four grandsons, Zachary, Micah, Joseph III,
and Noah; and one granddaughter, Journeigh.
He is also survived by his brothers, John Hunt Jr. of Yarmouth, Rickie Hunt of Auburn, Al Hunt
Jr. and his wife Casey of Turner, and Chris Hunt and his wife Angie of New Port Richey, Florida;
his sisters, Ruth Hunt of Windham and Kathie Hunt of Portland; his stepmother, Peg Hunt of
New Port Richey, Florida; his stepsister, Suzanne Langlais of Shapleigh; his stepbrother, Kerry
Bisco of Windham; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his parents; his stepfather, Albert Powers Sr.; and his brother,
Christopher Powers.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date. The family will announce details when
arrangements are finalized.
