Obituary



Eleanor A. (Tedesco) Fucarile of Woburn, age 96, passed away peacefully at home, on Mother's Day, May 10, surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor was a devoted mother and deeply loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking and holidays, shopping for the latest fashions and dressing impeccably, crossword and jumble puzzles, scratch tickets and visiting casinos, reading, and traveling around New England, Europe and Florida, happily vacationing with family.

Wife of 61 years to Richard Charles Fucarile, predeceased. Mother of Lori Davidson and her late husband Scott of Lexington, Richard II of Woburn, and Julie Bonetti and husband Frank of Reading. Grandmother of Samantha Davidson. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Alfonse Tedesco, of Tedesco's Shoe Repair store, formerly in downtown Woburn, and Theresa, his wife.

Eleanor graduated from Saint Charles Parochial School in Woburn, with High Honors, and received her degree from Kathleen Dell Business College, and was on the Dean’s List. She began her career as Senior Stenographer at the State House, Boston, where she worked for Dr. Nicholas Fiumara, then Director of Public Health, while supervising other stenographers. Later, she worked for the Audit & Utilization Review Committee at Choate Memorial Hospital, Woburn, and received an award for her recommendation to affix a beeping system to IV bags to alert nurses when the IV bags needed to be replaced.

After all her children were in school, Eleanor applied to be an Administrative Assistant at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After many years of commuting, Eleanor wanted to work closer to home and family and applied to the Federal Aviation Administration and became a Senior Administrative Assistant. Loving the varied work and educational experiences, she received many performance awards. With her beautiful spirit, Eleanor made true friends wherever she went, enjoyed an active life full of fun and family celebrations and will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, on Thursday, May 21st, from 4 PM to 8 PM and again on Friday, May 22nd, at 9 AM followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara’s Parish Church, 138 Cambridge Rd, Woburn, on Friday, May 22nd at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to: Saint Anthony's Shrine, 100 Arch Street, Boston, MA 02110-1111.
