Leroy A. “Roy” Sargent Jr. January 15, 1964 – May 14, 2026 Leroy A. “Roy” Sargent Jr., 62, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2026. His big heart—one that had carried him through a lifetime of loving, fiercely laughing loudly, and living fully—finally gave out. Roy embraced life with both arms wide open. He loved his family, his dogs, his music, and anything with an engine and a roar. NASCAR and stock car racing were his favorite pastime, and he even drove in a couple demolition derbies at Beech Ridge Speedway in Scarborough. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a good seafood platter, a perfectly cooked prime rib, and a cocktail or two (or four) shared with family and friends. Roy was a storyteller of legendary proportions—most of his tales were either wildly embellished or entrely invented, and everyone who knew him loved him all the more for it. “Roys will be Roys” became a familiar refrain among those who understood him best. Roy had a way of filling any room he walked into—his presence was unmistakable, his laughter contagious, and his personality larger than life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Roy is survived by his daughter, Misty Sargent; his grandson, JJ; and his brothers and sisters Robert, Terry, Bob, Polly, and Bobbie-Jo. He was predeceased by his parents, Beverly and Robert, and his sister Debbie. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Dunn Street in Westbrook. Family and friends are invited to come share stories, memories, and a little laughter in honor of Roy.
