
Carol T. (Porter) Erven, 79, of Woburn, formerly of Wakefield, died May 12, 2026 at Garden Place Healthcare, Attleboro, MA. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Hart) Porter and sister to the late Charles Porter. She leaves behind her loving son W. Casey Erven and his wife Jo Ann, and grandchildren Julia Rose and John William, of Scituate, Rhode Island. She is also survived by her sister Jean Grammer, her sister-in-law Patricia Porter, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
During Carol's early years, she was a talented swimmer and ice skater. She served as a lifeguard at Horn Pond (Woburn, MA) and later at Ithaca College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in physical education. She shared her love of skating while teaching physical education at the Daniel L. Joyce Middle School (Woburn) and O'Brien Rink.
A lover of all thing’s baseball, Carol was a Boston Red Sox season ticket holder while working at the Sox ticket office for more than thirty years. Carol also worked as an usher at the Citizens Opera House in Boston. She volunteered at the American Red Cross, traveling to New Orleans, to help the victims following Hurricane Katrina. Carol loved dogs, attending concerts, and NFL kicker Adam Vinitieri. She lived a very full life and was loved by many.
Carol's funeral will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, beginning with visitation at 10 am followed by a service at 11:30 am in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant Street, Woburn, MA. Service will conclude with interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Peabody, MA.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to PAWS (Protection of Animals in Wakefield Society, Inc.) or The Jimmy Fund. May she rest in peace.
