Helen Julia (Garboski) McCluskey, age 86 of Marblehead, MA, peacefully passed away on the morning of Easter Sunday, 4/9/2023 at the Brudnick Center, Peabody MA. Helen was born in Dracut, MA , August 12, 1936 . She was the daughter of the late Julia ( Paprowska ) and Stanislaus Garboski. Helen was a graduate of Dracut High School class of 1948. She went on to have a lifelong career in the defense industry as a program administrator. She was awarded a certificate
for her guidance in the AWACS program (airborne warning and control system)
She married her lifelong love Richard C McCluskey on June 2, 1962. Together they enjoyed traveling the world. They skied the Swiss Alps, visited friends in Argentina, and toured Scotland and Poland , as well as embarking on many cruises. Their love of skiing brought them to Jackson, NH where they enjoyed their ski chalet along with many close friends and family. So many fun times were had skiing at Attitash.
Marblehead, MA was their lifelong residence and being close to the ocean encouraged their other passion, Sailing. Helen and Richard were members of the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead for many years. They sailed the New England coast as well as the Caribbean. They also spent numerous winters in their home in Naples, FL , and along with many close friends enjoyed the warm, sunny climate and beautiful ocean sails.
Helen was predeceased by her siblings, Emile, John, Edward, and Thaddeus Garboski and sisters Sophie Cann and Alice Carnevale.
