Jean Anne (Burke) MacNabb, longtime resident of Dedham and originally from West Roxbury, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, after declining health and just minutes shy of her 93rd birthday. Jean was born in Boston to Mary (Barry) and John Burke on May 4, 1933. John tragically died shortly after Jean’s birth. She and her older sister Mary were lovingly raised by Frank Savage, who married their mother when they were young girls. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Richard. She was also predeceased by her sister Mary Lucas, and her brother Thomas Savage. She is survived by her five children, Andrea Calandrella and her husband Paul of Lebanon, NH, Thomas MacNabb and his wife Martha of Norwood, Jean Anne Gerrior of Stoughton, Patricia Monahan and her husband Brian of Dedham, and Amy MacNabb of Pawtucket, RI. She was a grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of two and an aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Jean was educated at the Boston Dispensary and worked for many years at the Carney Hospital as a lab technician. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher, both hobbies brought her great joy.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 13th at 11:00am in St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre St., West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or a charity of your choice.
