Obituary

Linda Marie McGuine (1965–2026)

Linda Marie McGuine, a woman defined by her unwavering kindness and a soundtrack of classic rock, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Lenox, MA, at the age of 61.
Born on January 4, 1965, in Somerville, MA, to the late Rodman and Dorothy Hanson, Linda was a proud graduate of Somerville High School. After marrying in 1989, she moved to Woburn, where she dedicated her life to the two roles she cherished most: mother and caretaker. Whether she was raising her three children or tenderly caring for her mother-in-law, Linda’s life was an exercise in selflessness. As her children grew, she shared her nurturing spirit with the community as a teacher at Woburn Creative Start, where she cared for preschool-aged children with the same warmth she gave her own.
Linda’s home was never quiet; it was filled with the music she loved. From the anthems of Meatloaf and Tom Petty to the modern sounds of Linkin Park, music was her constant companion and greatest comfort. She was often found taking long drives just to get lost in a song, never afraid to sing along at the top of her lungs. When she wasn't listening to music, she was likely cheering on her beloved Bruins, Red Sox, or Patriots.
Above all, Linda lived for her children. Every sacrifice she made was a stepping stone for their success, and she was at her happiest when they were all together. Known for her "Always Be Kind" philosophy, Linda was a beacon of positivity. Even in her own difficult moments, she wore a smile to lift others up, serving as a vital role model for her children, her granddaughter, and her extended family.
She is survived by her devoted children: Robert Frederick McGuine, Jr. and his wife Erin of Carlisle; Thomas Rodman McGuine and his partner Brook Boucher of VT; and Kaitlyn Marie McGuine of Monrovia, CA. She was the cherished grandmother of Eloise Marie Connors McGuine. She also leaves behind her siblings: Mark W. Hanson, Steven R. Hanson, Kenneth J. Hanson, and Karen D. Hanson, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. She joins her parents, Dorothy and Rodman, in eternal rest.
Linda’s legacy is simple yet profound: "Always Be Kind." In her memory, her family asks that you perform an act of unexpected kindness today.
