Obituary

Louis (Lou) Morales passed away May 2,2026 at Community Memorial surrounded by his family from chronic kidney failure and complications of heart disease. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Morales, daughters, Kristin Barretto (Robert), Carol Lee (Terry), grandchildren, Joshua Barretto, Jade Barretto, and Jayna Barretto. Sisters Gloria Macias, Rebecca Falcon (Rigoberto) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lou was born September 26. 1935 in the Tortilla Flats neighborhood of Ventura to Luis Morales Sr. and Isabel Levario Morales. Lou, his mother and a Sunday School Teacher are featured on the Tortilla Flats Mural located on Figuera Street. His Father ministered at a historical Hispanic church at the Seaside Park. He attended May Henning Elementary School, Cabrillo Village School in Saticoy and Isbell Elementary in Santa Paula. The family then moved to East Los Angeles where he attended both Roosevelt and Garfield High Schools. In 1952 while in his mid-teens he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1972.He was stationed in several stateside and foreign military bases. The last overseas assignment was in Viet Nam 1970-71. The entire military career was spent in Security and Law Enforcement and ended his career with Military Dogs (K-9) division.
After the military career ended, Lou began to fulfill his lifelong goal to attend college. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Following graduation, Lou moved the family back to His Hometown of Ventura, and began a career as a field investigator, specializing in investigating workers’ compensation claims for widely known insurance companies. In 1995 Lou received a Private Investigator License and began his own company, Razorback Investigations.
The love of Lou’s life was his family and cherished spending time with them. He also enjoyed reading, particularly about history or politics. Surfing the internet and USC football, He was most known for his keen sense of humor and was extremely quick with the quips. He also loved hospitality, particularly that involved including large parties. He was known to bring home the unexpected to have dinner. Although he grew up in the in the church, he never became a member nor professed his faith. In 2005 He invited Christ into his life and accepted Christ as his savior and later became a proud charter member of Ventura Jubilee Fellowship Church,
Family and friends are invited to Funeral Services to be held on Saturday Morning May 23, 2026 at Ventura Jubilee Fellowship Church, 1956 Palma Drive, Ventura. The family will receive guests at a visiting hour to precede the services in Church from 10am to 11am. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Howard Road, Camarillo. Arrangements are under the direction of the BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, Ventura.
