Obituary

Lucy Aldea Bouchard, age 81, was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, and a longtime resident of Auburn, New Hampshire, formerly of Dracut, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 2nd, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Lucy was born on April 7, 1945, to the late Amable and Aldea (Morin) Chamberland. She was also predeceased by her beloved siblings Armand Chamberland, Rita Daigle, and Roger Chamberland. Lucy is survived by her siblings Reine O’Malley, Paul Chamberland, and Linda Briere, along with many cherished nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lucy adored her family, but none more than her children and grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life. She is survived by her daughters, Sandi Leclair and Deanna Pereira, and their husbands Keith Leclair and Steve Pereira. She was a devoted and ever present grandmother to Ashlynn Leclair, Ayden Pereira, Tyler Leclair, Jaxon Pereira, and Gabby Leclair. Lucy never missed a single milestone, every play, sporting event, school function, or special moment. If her grandchildren were there, Lucy was there too, always cheering them on. They adored her deeply, and her love and presence shaped their lives in immeasurable ways.

Above all else, Lucy was a natural caretaker. She was the first person to drop whatever she was doing to lend a helping hand, offer comfort, or give advice. Her heart was big enough for everyone, and she was loved far beyond her immediate family, often becoming an honorary mom and memere to many.

A woman of strong faith, Lucy lived her life guided by kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. She enjoyed reading and word searches, and if you stopped by her home, you could be sure the Game Show Network was on, with one of her grandchildren sitting beside her, happily spending time together.

Lucy loved living in the same neighborhood as both of her daughters and took great joy in having her grandchildren and neighborhood children gathered around her table doing arts and crafts or playing games. She also delighted in giving, whether it was a small gift, something special she had saved, or something that made her think of you. She loved sharing pieces of herself with those who visited, always making sure no one ever left her home empty handed or without feeling loved.

Lucy had an incredible sense of humor and a unique way of expressing herself. Those who knew her well fondly remember her sayings, lovingly referred to as “Lucyisms.” Even on her hardest days, Lucy’s focus was always on making others smile and feel comforted.

Brave, selfless, and beautiful both inside and out, Lucy was a trusted confidant, a wise judge of character, and someone people naturally turned to for guidance. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, humor, and generosity will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 8th at 10:00am in St. Peter’s Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. The burial will follow in the Village Cemetery, Eaton Hill Rd., Auburn.

Lucy will forever remain in our hearts.
