Steve Stone, 70, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, May 1, 2026, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Ben Hill County, with Savannah Sumner delivering a eulogy. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
Mr. Stone was born August 7, 1955, in Adel, Georgia, to the late Neal & Mary Taylor Stone. He retired as a Licensed Dispensing Optician. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dirt track racing. He will be remembered for his joking, quick-whitted personality. Steve Stone has taken his final lap and in his own words “another one has bit the dust.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Scottie Stone; daughter, Savannah Sumner (Justin); grandchildren: Ivy Lynn Sumner, Zoey Sumner and Finley Sumner; a brother, Daryl Stone (Becky), as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loritta Brasher.
