Obituary

Lewis Edward “Ed” Willis, 76, of Fitzgerald, died April 30, 2026, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Memorial services will be held 4 PM, Monday, May 4, 2026, at The Grove Bible Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Mike Tullis, the Rev. B. J. Funk and the Rev. Don Woeltjen officiating.

Mr. Willis was born March 10, 1950, in Tifton, Georgia, to the late Lewis Henry and Iral Laverne Bond Willis. He was a 1968 graduate of Tift County High School and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He taught woodworking and shop for Worth and Tift County school systems. Mr. Willis apprenticed under Charles Bargeron, who mentored him in the beautiful furniture he loved to make for people. He was a cat lover and loved his three: Smokey, Littlebit and Shine. Mr. Willis was married to the love of his life for 28 years, Judy Kate “Kitty” Clark Willis, who preceded him in death. He was very active in his church and giving to the community. He held bible study classes in his house weekly and was a member of The Grove Bible Church.

He is survived by his children: Chandra Willis Crews, MeLisa Utley (Shawn) and Meshell Dominguez all of Tifton; grandchildren: Tara Crews, Luke Crews, Nicholas Utley, and Katelyn Utley; a sister, Linda Willis Medders of Sylvester. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Caldbeck.
