Joanne F. (McGrath) LaMonica, born on May 26, 1953, and a lifelong resident of Medford, passed away after a brief illness on April 25, 2026, with her loving husband and family by her side.
The beloved wife of 52 years to Joseph LaMonica of Medford, Joanne was the devoted mother of Michelle LaMonica Mackie and her husband, Dennis; Janet Esposito and her husband, Vito; and William LaMonica and his wife, Meghan. She was a cherished grandmother to Reanna, Anthony, Michael, Ashley, McKenzie, and Greyson. Joanne was a dear aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was also known as “Grandma Joanne” to all the neighborhood kids.
Joanne is survived by her brother, William McGrath of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Marcelina McGrath of Palm Harbor, FL; and brother-in-law, James Coogan of North Attleborough, MA. She was the daughter of the late William and Bridget (Walsh) McGrath and the sister of the late Mary Coogan, Joseph McGrath, and Robert McGrath.
Joanne loved spending time with family and friends. For the past 10 years, she spent her winters at her home in Florida and her summers in Massachusetts surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She loved going to the beaches in Maine, taking cruises with her siblings and friends, and traveling to Las Vegas, but above all, spending time with her grandchildren and family was what she cherished most.
Joanne also enjoyed summer day trips to Maine with family, relaxing on the porch with neighbors, talking, and watching all the neighborhood children play and grow up. She spent hours each day talking on the phone with her lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with a procession and graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
