Geraldine E. (Stella) Sheedy, age 90, of Dennisport, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at the Delray Beach Medical Center on Friday, February 20, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of William C. Sheedy, who passed away on August 28, 2018.
Born in Boston on March 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William Stella and the late Maria (Souza) Stella.
Geraldine was a graduate of Charlestown High School where she was class secretary and a cheerleader
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Sheedy was employed as a supervisor by the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare.
She enjoyed spending winters in Delray Beach, Florida, having open house on Christmas eve, having her grandchildren visit her at the Cape during the summer and she also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Geraldine is the mother of Thomas S. Sheedy, of Dracut, Beth M. Fernandes and her husband Donald, of Northport, Fl and the late William J. Sheedy and his surviving wife Karen Sheedy, of Williston, VT. Grandmother of Philip and his wife Jill, of Houston, TX, Patrick and his wife Meghan, of San Diego CA, Carolyn, of Burlington N.C., Christopher, of NY, NY and Cathryn, of Jacksonville, FL. Sister of the late James W. Stella, and his late wife Mary, of West Peabody. She leaves two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
At Geraldine’s request, there are No Calling Hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday, May 8th, at 11 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment of her ashes at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org
