Obituary

CHICOPEE – Loraine E. (Lucier) Pothier, 92, a longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 just days before her 93rd birthday. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Westfield, one of nine children born to the late Alexander and Georgianna (Lacoste) Lucier. She was raised and educated in Holyoke and moved to Chicopee with her beloved husband and best friend, Leo F. Pothier who was Called Home in 2005. They were blessed with nearly 51 years of happiness together. She will be missed by her children and all who knew her. She leaves her three loving and devoted children, Michele Laskey and her husband, Patrick, of South Hadley, Ruth LaBonte and her husband, Robert, of Suffield, CT, and David Pothier and his wife, Susan, of Stafford Springs, CT; her five cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, Robbie, David, and Miranda; her six cherished great grandchildren, William, Brady, Brooke, Leo, Mikey, and Jackson; her dear brother, Louis Lucier of California; her dear brother-in-law, George Pothier of New York; her dear sister-in-law, Doris Methe of West Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her five dear brothers, Alexander, Roland, Paul, Normand, and Raymond; and her two dear sisters, Florence and Jean. Her family would like to thank the staffs at Armbrook Village in Westfield, East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center, and Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for their supportive care and kindness. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. before Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Shriners Hospital for Children (Please specify Springfield) or to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
