PORTER- Michael Cookson Knowles, age 84, passed away on April 28, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 16, 1941, in Detroit Maine to parents Victor and Beulah (Cookson) Knowles.
Growing up, Michael attended and graduated in 1959 from Cheverus High School in Portland He then went on to work for over 25 years at S.D. Warren Paper Mill in Westbrook working in the finishing rooms.
Michael had many enjoyments in his life such as, playing golf, softball and any sport, bird watching, traveling-especially with his wife LaVerne, playing cribbage-he was a BIG cribbage player, Qwirkle, dominos, poker, various of other card games and his favorite-being with his family who will miss him dearly.
Michael is predeceased by his parents- Victor and Beulah (Cookson) Knowles, his siblings- James and Galen Knowles, his previous wife- Anita Charest and his stepson- Dean Murray.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 19 years- LaVerne Saucier, his daughters- Leslie Knowles and Christine Reardon and her husband Gaynor, his granddaughter- Sophie Knowles.
